25. Installation risks
As she walked on, Lana was slowly becoming more and more in danger. Many of the tunnels looked like they could collapse at any moment. If she was trapped down there at these freezing temperatures, how long would it take for help to arrive, and who would know that she and her friend were there?
The beams holding the sides of the shafts had been severely damaged by the water, and icicles were splitting in the wood. They had carried themselves into every open crack in the wood and expanded and tore it apart. A wrong move could mean that all supports collapse. They were not destined to discover this abandoned mine, and soon they are faced with a decision by gravity.
